Kian Byrne is the senior program manager for the History and Public Policy Program at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy's Global Policy Institute. Byrne runs the digital archive and supports the program's various sub-projects, such as the Cold War International History Project (CWIHP), the Nuclear Proliferation International History Project (NPIHP) and the Critical Oral History Series.
His own research focuses on modern Middle East history and he holds an MA in history from George Washington University. He has written on subjects ranging from the state of archives in the Middle East, to the Iran-Iraq War and the history of US-Iran relations, about which he co-authored the book, Worlds Apart: A Documentary History of US-Iran Relations, 1978-2018 (Cambridge University Press, 2021).
